EFT and Overcoming Procrastination

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Can EFT help you overcome bad habits, including procrastination? You bet it can.

EFT, also known as Tapping or as Emotional Freedom Technique, is a kind of acupuncture that uses gentle taps instead of needles. It’s especially effective at helping you overcome distressing emotions and all sorts of conscious and unconscious blocks. And yes, it works nicely for overcoming procrastination.

You tap on a series of points while saying certain statements, and your body kind of recalibrates itself…

Here’s how I first discovered just how powerful it could be:

When I first started with EFT, I had a major dog phobia.

Now I know that this may seem hard to believe if you love dogs, but I was really scared of dogs, to the point that I would get a panic attack when I was out for a walk in the park and saw a dog on the other side of the park, minding his own business.

My heart would race, I was scared out of my mind, beating a hasty retreat to my car as I imagined that this dog might make a beeline for me and bite me.

And of course, with that kind of attitude, I did attract a fair number of hostile dogs, and even normally friendly dogs would be much less friendly to me. It didn’t help that barking alone was causing me to panic.

So when I learned EFT, I decided to try it on my fear of dogs. I tapped a few rounds, and then forgot about it.

A few weeks later, I was going to someone’s house (where I had never been before) for a meeting, and as I walked in the door, there was met by a very large dog, his nose practically bumping into my midriff. And I said, “Uh, hi dog,” a bit startled but NOT panicky.

Later, the dog made his rounds to be petted and when he came to me, I petted his back, and he put his head on my lap. And not only did I not panic at all. but I rather enjoyed this brief connection.

Whoa! What happened? Could this be because of the EFT? You bet.

And at this point, I finally relate to dogs much like any “normal” person.

So can EFT help with procrastination and other habits? Of course it can.

Here’s a free introduction to using EFT, complete with an illustration of the main tapping points.

Download it, take a few minutes to read it, and then try it with the following set-up phrases as you tap your karate chop point:

“Even though I don’t want to do this (activity) right now, I deeply and completely accept myself”

“Even though I would rather not do (this activity), I choose to feel calm and confident.

“Even though I am tempted to procrastinate, I choose to do this (activity) right now.”

Then, for the follow-up statements, tap on the points listed in the ebook, and use the negative parts of the set=up statements for the first round or two, and then use the positive ones for a round. Later, you can also alternate between them, but make sure you always end with a positive one.

Again, just download your free introduction to EFT right here, and get tapping.

EFT World Summit: Patricia Carrington’s Choices Method

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

The EFT World Summit 2 has truly been an experience (and continues to be). I listened to almost all the audios as they happened, and tapped along. I feel cleansed and renewed already. And it’s not quite over yet. There are a few more freebies available each day for another few days, so go check it out:

EFT World Summit 2

And you can get the whole thing on downloadable MP3s for less than 5 bucks a program if you so choose, along with some great bonuses!

Among my favorites was Patricia Carrington’s Choices method and well, there were so many wonderful other sessions, I will have to just write about them over time, one at a time.

The reason why Patricia Carrington’s stood out for me personally was because she really expanded my view of how to use EFT.

Traditionally, EFT was developed to reduce or remove negative feelings etc. Carrington uses it to increase good feelings.

I already knew about tapping on the positive, which I learned from Carol Look and Brad Yates, but Carrington took it some important steps further.

If you’re familiar with the Law of Attraction, you can immediately see the benefits of such an approach. We attract what we feel, and the better we feel, the better the things we attract.

This is all very nice, but what if we don’t feel so hot? What if life is rough and we feel very justified in wallowing in self pity, thank you very much.

It’s that old Leslie Gore song all over again– “It’s my party and I cry if I want to!”

And in a parallel vein: “I’m feeling miserable and I’m well within my rights to wallow in my misery.”

Well… we may be within our rights, but how is it serving us? Not so well, right?

The problem with that attitude is that we stay stuck in those feelings of misery. Bill Burns says that we do that because it feels familiar, and getting away from it makes us very uncomfortable.

I say, let’s get over it. I much prefer to feel good, and since Patricia Carrington’s method can get me to snap out of it when I need a bit of help in that area, she’s now my new best friend, or at least, my new favorite EFT teacher.

In addition to Carol Look, and Brad Yates, that is. Oh, and Jessica Ortner, who has created a very cool tapping sequence that she made available as a download. It’s about overcoming Fear of Failure, Fear of Criticism, and Impatience. Great stuff.

You can get it here if you act fast: EFT World Summit 2

All I can add is this: Happy Tapping!

And thanks, Nick and Jessica Ortner for putting this Summit together. It rocks!

P.S.: For another way to snap out of it, check back here in the next day or two for my new post on Alan Cohen’s new book!

EFT & Law of Attraction! Tonight on EFT World Summit 2

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Wow! The EFT Word Summit is getting better and better each night.

Today, we have two new amazing programs. Right now, I’m listening to Patricia Carrington talk about tapping in positive memories and feelings to make the Law of Attraction work a LOT better.

This is especially useful during times of stress and distress about the issue at hand.

She says, it’s important to take snapshots of when good things are happening and you have positive feelings about the issue, i.e., money, and then tap it in, saying “I want more of this positive feeling”

Makes sense to me. I’m tapping ;-)

And then there’s Rick Wilkes who will talk about Childhood trauma.

Those will be up till 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, EST, and after that…

Woohoo. Brad Yates, whose work I love, and someone else whose work I will probably love by the time I’m done listening to her program!

Don’t miss this.

This summit totally rocks:

EFT World Summit 2

And yes, these audios are all FREE to o listen to, like I said before.

But what if you want to listen to them again? Well.. you can, but then you’ll have to pay, though considering the value it’s really worth it.

You’ve got the choice between a downloadable version, whcih comes to about 5 bucks per expert and a physical version, which will be 10 bucks per.

Go there now and listen in… You’ll like it.

P.S.:

In accordance to the new FTC rules, I have to tell you that I will get a commission if you get those if you go there through my link…

EFT World Summit 2 — FREE EFT Tappings & Info

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

The second EFT World Summit is happening right now.

And you can attend for FREE! No catch, other than that you have to be there and make sure you catch the audios within the 24 hours they are up. Where? Click here for EFT

What if you can’t make it or want to listen to them again?

They DO make a package available where you can get access to the audios (or even hard copies) of all the 20 programs that are part of this.

And believe me, these audios rock! I’ve listened to every one so far (6 in all).

I thought I knew a ton about EFT (and I DO), but I learned a LOT of new stuff just in those last 3 days. So you can bet I’ll be listening to the other 14 audios too (2 a day).

So what IS EFT and why do I like it so much?

EFT is short for Emotional Freedom TEchnique. And it’s exactly what the name says. By basically tapping on certain parts of your body (mostly face and hands, collar bone, and, well, under your arm pit) you can tame and release emotional trauma and distressing feelings.

It’s absolutely incredible. When I first read about it, I immediately wanted access to it, but I thought I had to find a high-priced practitioner to benefit from it. Still, Emotional Freedom technique sounded really good to me.

Imagine my happy surprise when I discovered I could learn to do this myself. It has literally changed my life. In my stress relief manual, EFT is taking up more pages than any of the other techniques. It’s this important.

The key is to remember to do it. Sometimes I get stressed about something and it takes me a few hours until I remember that, hey, wait a minute, why not tap on it. And so I do, and I feel calmer within minutes.

So for anyone who isn’t familiar with it yet, just go to the EFT World Summit site and check it out. Or get my FREE stress tips report and send me an email, and I’ll send you the link to my free ebook on EFT later tonight ;-)

Meanwhile, run, don’t walk to the World Summit so you won’t miss the two programs that are still running until 8 EST (one on business success and one on public speaking!).

I’ll write another post tonight, about EFT, how I use it and how it has helped me and my students and friends.

See you at the summit!

Cleaning Clutter with EFT: Self Help Blog Clutter Tips Of a Different Kind

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Cleaning Clutter with EFT?  Heck, why not!  If you ask me, it’s been long overdue. And my self help blog is the perfect place to write about it.

Sure, I could have just done it myself since I’ve been working with EFT for stress relief for ages.  And trust me, I’ve tried, but what I really needed was a program that had all the bases covered — all those pesky underlying issues from frustration, overwhelm, embarrassment, and on and on.  And now it’s here!

Carol Look, one of the biggest prosperity and EFT gurus,  has finally created the ultimate program for Cleaning Clutter with EFT.  Whether it’s office clutter, paper clutter, home clutter, closet clutter.  She’s got it covered.  And especially the emotional complications that underlie it all.

I’m not even all the way through yet (that thing is 6 CD length audios long — and comes with a transcript) and already I’m chomping at the bits to get going.  Get my hands on that stuff and throw things out.  Quite a change.

I’m filling one waste basket after the other, empty them into big black trash bags, take those out, and repeat…  I’ve got a long way to go — years and years of accumulation from my life in academia especially, aided by endless reams of computer printouts.

And, of course, there are still all these books — I’ll keep a lot of those, but not nearly all of them. And I’ve got my special way of dealing with those — and have even written a book about it (really!).

Actually, if you’ve been following this blog, you already know about it:  Amazon.com Marketplace Strategies which you can find at http://www.sellyourstuffatamazon.com  where I share all the secret strategies and short-cuts I’ve figured out over the years.

It’s on sale too at the moment, which you’ll discover when you click on the link.  I keep wanting to change it, but heck, why not let it stay that way for a few more days ;-)

Still, I could do a heck of a lot better with releasing more of those books from my life, and I’m going to restart my efforts, which have been rather lacking recently, and with the aid of Carol’s decluttering book, I’m sure I’ll be much more effective.

Meanwhile, if you or someone you love has a clutter issue, run, don’t walk, to http://www.TapIntoProsperityNow.com and go to the middle of the page (there’s a list) and click on “clutter” (second item in the list).  I am sure you’ll like it as much as I do.

It’s truly an amazing program.  It costs less than half a month of the storage fees that I pay for my excess clutter.  Imagine, if I can clear that place out within a month or two, I’ll get twice my investment back every single month after that (and even a bit more, actually)! I can hardly wait.

I would write more on it, but right now I’ve got work to do.  And plenty of tapping too…and a few waste baskets to fill ;-)

And if you’d like to join me, here’s that link again:

http://www.TapIntoProsperityNow.com

Oh, and you do know about the prosperity/clutter connection, right?  I first became aware of that through Feng Shui.  And it’s not just the vibrations, but also really practical stuff that holds the money at bay. For example, it makes work less efficient when I have to play paper chase.  Not to mention some of the extra expense.

Anyway, that’s all on that topic for now…  A long time ago, I actually planned to do a before and after series on this on another blog on my quest for clutter control, but until I found this program, I wasn’t successful enough to come up with decent after pictures, not for any length of time anyway.  But now…

Here’s to a whole new approach to cleaning clutter!

Have a fabulous week,

Elisabeth

P.S.: Just got my ezine article on the subject published too.  Please check it out and send your friends too ;-)
